Innovative approach to reducing manual handling/soft tissue injuries
This workshop on reducing manual handling and other musculoskeletal injuries will be led by Benjamin Kanner, CEO of US company Worklete.
Worklete brings the principles of human movement to the workplace. The way a worker moves throughout the day affects whether or not they will get injured. Benjamin will talk about how workers can be trained to move in a way that will help keep them healthy and injury-free.
Ergonomics and engineering the workplace can help reduce injuries. But organisations also need to address the human element – how workers interact with their environment. Ensuring workers build good habits and instinctively default into stronger, more stable positions when working can reduce the risk of injuries.
Companies that have used Worklete’s approach have seen average 50% decreases in injuries. Benjamin has been brought to New Zealand by ACC, and the Forum is grateful to ACC for making him available for this workshop.
